School for Field Studies – Bhutan

Paro Valley, Bhutan

SFS (School for Field Studies) offers study abroad programs in Bhutan, a mountain kingdom where change is afoot. Few foreigners have ever seen Bhutan's small villages and stunning Buddhist monasteries - it wasn't until 1974 that the country opened its borders to tourists.

Based in Paro, students will learn how biodiversity is protected and traditional rural lifestyles are maintained. Participants experience conservation and environmental issues against the backdrop of vibrant culture and Buddhist philosophy, gain an in-depth understanding of local ecosystems, and wrap up the semester with an extensive field trip.

Cost to attend

ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the off-campus program's actual room and board fees. Students are encouraged to choose programs based on their academic, rather than financial needs, to reflect ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ's belief that all students regardless of financial circumstances should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during their participation in an off-campus program. Students should discuss how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package with the Financial Aid Office. More details are available here.
